Turks and Caicos is not an inexpensive island. If you want upscale and high-quality accommodations, you will have to pay prices on the higher end of the tourist spectrum. But there is one place that is definitely worth it: The West Bay Club Providenciales on Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos.
The Location
The West Bay Club could not have a better location. The resort is located right on Grace Bay, one of the most amazing beaches on Providenciales. To reach the beach, you just walk through the center of the property, down the boardwalk and you are at the beach on Grace Bay, which is lined with high-end properties. The views are fantastic and the ocean is warm with the perfect Caribbean shades of blue.
On Grace Bay beach, the sand is the softest sand I have ever experienced. Seriously, it is like powder under your feet. The West Bay Club has beach chairs, towels and umbrellas available for its guests just steps from the ocean. It is perfect. Not to mention the food and drink service on the beach is absolutely lovely.
The Room
The West Bay Club offers a number of different types of rooms. We stayed in a Studio Suite and it was absolutely massive. The bed was huge and quite comfortable, and the room was plenty big enough for a pull out bed for a child.
In addition to a sitting area in the room, the room also boasted two balconies where you could sit, check out the pool, and get some fresh air.
The bathroom makes good use of space, but could be a bit larger given the huge size of the room. The shower is an all glass shower, which gives the bathroom a luxurious feel.
But the biggest surpise of the room was the full kitchenette area. In addition to the microwave, refrigerator, sink, and stove, there was also a full sized washer and dryer, which is perfect for minimizing the amount of clothes you have to bring. There was plenty of closet space and just space in general. It was an absolutely amazing pick.
The Food
On our first night in town, we decided to dine at Noodle Bar + Kitchen. The food at this on-site restaurant is not like typical meals you would expect at a resort. I had the Lobster Spaghettini, with huge chunks of fresh lobster and zucchini and topped with creamy ricotta cheese. It was absolutely fantastic. The flavors were decadent and rich. It was the perfect dinner after a long day of travel.
While staying at the resort, we also enjoyed numerous adult beverages and poolside snacks. Many resorts serve rum punch to their guests as a welcome beverage, and those drinks are super weak. That is not the case at the West Bay Club. The rum punch was right proper and was perfect for poolside relaxation. Pair that with nachos, grilled chicken and French fries, and it made for a perfect day of relaxation. On our first full day there, all we did all day was sit by the pool (and on the beach), eat, and drink.
The Ambiance and Service
The ambiance of the West Bay Club is laid back and relaxed. The pool area is huge and wasn’t crowded at all when we visited in October. The grounds of the property were well kept, and the staff was more than accommodating. They assisted with booking excursions, directions, and generally making sure we were comfortable and happy.
As I mentioned in my Turks and Caicos country guide, Providenciales is a laid-back island. It is the perfect place to enjoy the beach, enjoy rum punch, and enjoy the views. If you are looking for a destination to relax, unwind, and rejuvenate yourself, Turks and Caicos is that spot. And the West Bay Club is an excellent place to stay. Though not inexpensive (not to many places on TCI are inexpensive), I give it an A for luxury and I will definitely return.
I have been wanting to visit Turks and Caicos and I may take your advice and stay at the West Bay Club. It sounds like it’s worth the money. Thank you for sharing!
