When looking for luxury accommodations in Bangkok, Thailand, the buck stops at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Bangkok. I was blessed enough to have the Royal Orchid sponsor my stay for the first stop on my birthday trip to Southeast Asia, and the Royal Orchid left such an impression, it will definitely be my first choice in accommodations when I return to Bangkok. Here is a glimpse with my Royal Orchid Sheraton Bangkok review.
Location
The Royal Orchid Sheraton is in the oldest part of Bangkok, Chinatown. Because of their prime location, the Royal Orchid has curated a list of “1-Hour Gems,” local gems that are all within an hour of the hotel. From Klongsan Plaza, which is an authentic Thai shopping experience to Talad Noi, a market with hawker stalls, street food, and religious landmarks (including Holy Rosary Catholic Church built in 1787), there are a number of options to explore the neighborhood just a few minute walk from the Royal Orchid.
Additionally, just along the river edge side of the hotel is a boat to take you up and down the river to various sites as well. And the Royal Orchid Sheraton has its own shuttle boat service to take guests to the Taksin Sky Train (BTS) station, which will then take you to shopping mall and other Bangkok attractions.
Ambiance
As soon as you step into the lobby of the Royal Orchid, you are transported. The vibe exudes Asian royalty and flair.
The lobby is adorned with a stunning, ceiling-height golden shrine. It immediately brings you into the culture of Thailand and the Buddhist influence that is pervasive in the Thai culture. The lobby has plenty of seating and is dimly lit, and that combined with the fountain in the lobby created a very relaxing vibe as soon as you walk in the door.
The pool area actually has two pools. The first was more scenic, as the pool area overlooked the river. Both pools had relaxing cabanas but the second pool also had a swim up bar. The second pool was next to the garden with the peacocks! Yep, peacocks just roam the garden of the Royal Orchid Sheraton. I was informed that they are actually Portuguese peacocks…only because the Portuguese Embassy next door to the hotel owns them but they routinely fly over the fence to relax in the garden.
The Room
Before we discuss anything further in the room, we must first address the amazing view. Absolutely amazing, we had a top-floor, tower view of the Chao Phraya River. We could look down and see the boats traveling up and down the river with both passengers and goods from the floor-to-ceiling windows.
The room itself was huge! There was plenty of room for the two double beds, a chair for lounging, a desk, and a huge bathroom. The bathroom was accented with black tile, a standing shower, soaking tub, and still had room the spare. And, of course the Royal Orchid provided every toiletry in the bathroom that you could possibly need, from the standard body wash and lotion to sewing kits, toothbrushes, and more.
And then there was the bed. It was absolutely AMAZING! It was so comfortable, especially after over a day of traveling to get to Bangkok, that we didn’t even want to pull ourselves out of bed. It was truly a struggle to get up and get going because the bed just sucked you in and was perfect for great rest.
The Food
I was told about the breakfast buffet at the Royal Orchid Sheraton by a friend of mine before I arrived, and I can honestly say it is one of the best breakfast buffets I have had. They truly cater to various parts of the world and the corresponding cuisines through different areas of the buffet. Love Indian food? There’s a whole India area for you to indulge. Want a traditional American breakfast, get waffles, bacon, eggs, and other pastries. Craving some Asian cuisine? Noodles and other Thai delicacies are on deck. And the food was delicious, fresh, and quite filling as you are getting ready for a long day of exploring Bangkok.
We also had the opportunity to enjoy dinner and a traditional Thai show at Thera Thong restaurant. As you approach your table, you remove your shoes and actually go up a few stairs to the elevated platform to sit down at your table on cushions on the platform.
The Extras
The Royal Orchid Sheraton also has some added bonuses that are great for the traveler. In the business center, you can print your boarding passes at no charge, which is very helpful. One of my favorite perks of having a Club level room is that they have various offerings, like tea time in the afternoons, and happy hours early evening. The views are wonderful and its always nice to relax with some good tea or cocktails. Also, because so many flights arrive early in the morning, the Royal Orchid may be able to accommodate an early check-in, so you can sleep off the jetlag.
Overall Royal Orchid Sheraton Review
Overall, the Royal Orchid Sheraton exceeded my expectations. The rooms were spacious and the bed was top notch comfortable. The breakfast buffet was top notch with various cuisine options to please all of the hotel’s international guests. And the location was perfect for both exploring the local area and also getting to other areas of town.
For this 5-star experience, the pricing is very reasonable in both high and low seasons. When in Bangkok, I highly recommend the Royal Orchid Sheraton hotel as your choice in accommodations. Grade A.
This stay was sponsored by the Royal Orchid Sheraton Bangkok, but all opinions are my own.

That looks gorgeous! I haven’t been to any part of Asia since I was really young, and I’d love to go back. I think every hotel should have a list of “1 hour gems.”
Isn’t it a great feature, Eva! Such a neat concept!
Thank you so much for sharing this. Your hotel looks absolutely amazing. I stayed in the Rembrandt Hotel while I was in Bangkok and I remember it being so spectacular with a great spa and amazing food! It looks like you got a similar set-up!
It was an excellent set up Tryphena! I loved the view! I highly recommend it for your next trip.
This makes me miss Thailand. I stayed a the Lebua Tower Hotel and I really enjoyed but this hotel seems great with the pools, views and amenities. I loved the breakfast at our hotel as well due to the variety of things you could eat.
